Hedy R. Horowitz was born in Brooklyn, New York. She is an attorney with offices located in Syosset, New York. She primarily practices in the areas of Real Estate and Estate Administration.
Hedy has been active in sports throughout her whole life. During her junior high and high school years she participated in intramural sports (field hockey, volleyball, basketball and softball). In her late teens, along with continuing to play volleyball in leagues, she took up the art of Okinawan Kempo. This art concentrated primarily on kicking and punching from a standing position. After training for about a year, she realized that this art was missing something. What would happen if an attacker got passed her kicks and punches and took her to the ground? She then started training in the sport of Judo, a ground based art. Unfortunately life (i.e. law school and career) got in the way and although she continued to play competitive volleyball, there was no room left for martial arts.
Approximately twenty years later the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association presented a program entitled “Self Defense For Women”. The speaker was Harry Glick. It was a three part program that encompassed both standing and ground defenses. She attended the three part seminar and her passion for martial arts was revived. She started training with Harry on a regular basis and is still doing so thirteen years later.
Harry Glick’s Reality Based Self Defense Star System is a complete and empowering defense system. Whether you are young or old, male or female, big or small, there will always be a technique that will work for you.
